UK National Identity Scheme (NIdS): In November 2003, the UK Government announced its intention to introduce a NIdS based on biometric checks, eventually (most likely) leading to a requirement for compulsory registration by all UK residents and the issue of National Identity Cards. On 5 January 2004, in response to an open request from the UK Parliament (House of Commons) Home Affairs Committee, Cambridge Algorithmica made constructive criticism of several technical aspects of the government's proposed scheme. |
